SYNDICATE 2007

In celebration of the release of its 2007 Syndicate line, Vans hosted a gathering behind a Sunset Boulevard comic store as the venue to showcase its latest releases from its Syndicate line. The new line featured classic Vans styles influenced by BMX culture, artist Wes Humpston, L.A. graffiti writer Chazz, and a collaboration series with Japanese streetwear brand W)Tapps. All artists were in attendance including the honorable Wes Humpston as well as renowned LA graffiti artist Chaz, both of whose artwork was on display. Chaz had a huge screened piece on the wall, and Wes brought his custom deck collection. W)Tapps brought philosophy and knowledge to the entire event and it was pretty amazing, Im actually going to get on the phone and try to cop a pair right now. HVC BLK

We mentioned shooting some 'original' stuff last month. Havoc TV, Sierra Fellers, Jeff Mikut, Eric Viccarone and more hit Paramount Skatepark out here in LA. Well, Jeff Mikut has edited it and it's going up on Havoc Skate-under the moniker "HVC BLK." HVC BLK is the name we'll use for all original production here at Havoc, so keep that in yer brain! This lil gem hits the television airwaves in March, but we have it here online for ya'll (on our official site). Peep the link and see what it's all about. BOO YAH!

LORD OF THE LINES

Maybe you know or don't know, but our friends at Matix hosted the "Lord Of The Lines" contest down at ASR in San Diego last month. They have recently put some video up-peep it here: http://www.matixclothing.com/video/lotl.html

Here's the run down on the contest in case you forgot, were alseep or just found out what the internet is.....

ASR Trade show, San Diego, CA.

Here at Matix, progress is everything. So when we were offered another opportunity to host another skate event during the ASR tradeshow this January, we decided to up the ante and create a contest that has never been done before, keeping skill, style and balance in mind along with an inspiration of true street skating – skating lines. Lord of the Lines was developed to bring street skating back to contests with three basic obstacles – a manual pad, a flat bar and a ledge box. Skaters had to develop a line connecting all three obstacles in one run. Another bonus – a $15,000.00 purse was at hand, with $1000.00 of which was to handed out to riders for bangers, bails and boos.

Skateboarders Enrique Lorenzo, Malcom Watson, Ronnie Creager, Billy Marks, Dennis Busenitz, Joey Brezinski, Adam Dyet, Felix Arguelles and Danny Montoya (to name a few) were on hand for the unveiling of L.O.T.L. Riders were placed in four heats and given 10-minutes to create their best line between the three obstacles, then top three were chosen to move onto a final 15 minute jam. In the end, Dennis Busenitzs’ speed and variety rang him at third place and a cool $1000.00 was handed over, Joey Brezinski’s fluid style and technical arrangement dropped him in at second place and the $3000.00 check was his, and finally Ronnie Creagers amazing balance and switch lines got him the golden crown and the grand prize of $10,000.00 was his.

Congrats Ronnie!
